Jordan’s main export commodities include pharmaceuticals, phosphates, plastic products, potash compound, textiles and knitwear, tobaccos, edible oils, paints, various, fertilisers and chemical products. Imports included plastic products, rice, sugar, synthetic lubricants, crude oil, machinery and fuel.
The Foreign Exchange Control Department of the Central Bank, which also issues exchange permits, administers Exchange control and also has authorised banks to issue exchange permits for import payments. Imports that require an import license also require an exchange permit.
Jordan is a contracting party to the Harmonised Commodity Description and Coding System.
