Location and Size
The State of Qatar is a sheikdom that includes the whole of the Qatar peninsula, extending from Khor al Odeid to the boundary of Saudi Arabia.
It also borders the United Arab Emirates, and has a strategic location in the Arabian Gulf near major crude oil sources.
The area of Qatar is 11,437 km².

Principal Commercial Centres
Doha is the capital and administrative centre.
Al-Khor is the principal port.
Umm Said is the industrial town linked to the oil industry.
Dukhan is the on-shore oil production centre.
Other centres include Al Wakrah and Mesaieed.
