Overview
Ohada Legis is a network of professional lawyers specialising in Ohada Business Law. The network’s goals are to encourage an understanding of Ohada Law and to provide related services in Ohada member countries.
The members of the network and its associates carry out various surveys on Ohada Business Law, outlining the incidences and opportunities in this legal environment, as well as highlighting its limits or shortcomings.
The information and expertise of the members of the network in Ohada Business Law are available to the business and financial community and are accompanied by rigorous and professional standards.
Dr. Mandessi Bell, a lawyer and consultant practicing in Cameroon, currently heads up the network. Together with partners based in Senegal and France, Dr. Mandessi Bell is extending the services of Ohada Legis to cover all of the Ohada member countries.
Ohada Business Law
OHADA, the Organisation for the Harmonisation of Business Law in Africa, was established in 1993 with the objective of creating a standard for business law in a number of French-speaking African countries. The organisation was established in the belief that a sound system of business law would be a prerequisite to the economic integration of these countries and a spur to greater foreign investment.
Ohada law is practised in the following sixteen countries at present, with more expected to join the organisation in the future: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Chad and Togo.
